The Arabian tribe Qurayshites were direct descendants of Prophet
Ibrahim ('a) through his elder son Prophet Ishmail ('a).
The Hashimites
The 20th generation following the line from Prophet Ishmail
('a)
was a man named Abd-Manaf. He had four (4) sons: Hashim, Muttalib,
Naufal and Abu Shams.
Hashim died leaving his young son to be raised by his brother,
Muttalib and thus the son of Hashim became known as Abdul Muttalib.
The descendants of Hashim through his son Abdul Muttalib, were
known as the Hashimites or Bani Hashim. Abdul Muttalib has ten (10)
sons: some of whom were Hamza, Abbas, Abu Taleb, Jafar, Abdullah and
Abi Lahab who is cursed in al-Qur'an. His daughters were
Safiyah and Aatika.
Abu-Shams, brother of Hashim, owned an evil hearted, crafty,
Roman, heathen, slave boy named Umayyah, who was gifted to him by his
father. Due to a close attachment between owner and slave, Abu-Shams
adopted him as a son.
The Umayyads
Umayyah held an inherent envy and enmity against Hashim and the
Hashimites.
The privileged hereditary duties of service to the Holy Ka'ba was
handed down from Abd-Manaf to his son Hashim, who was very noble and
godly in nature and temperament. From this point on, the Trusteeship
and the Custody of the Holy House of Allah, the Holy Ka'ba, was
exclusively enjoyed by the Hashimites.
The envy and jealousy grew within Umayyah the slave and his
descendants against the Hashimites. The wickedness, hostility and aggression
steadily increased within these people who became well known for
their notorious evil acts as the enemies of Allah (swt). They became
known as the Umayyads or Bani Umayyah.
Abdul Muttalib
Abdul Muttalib was handed down the rulership of the Holy City of
Makka. Within the region of his rulership lay the Spring-well of
Zam-Zam. After lying hidden and unknown to anyone for a period of
ages, Zam-Zam was miraculously discovered by Abdul Muttalib. This
mysterious uncovering greatly increased the reverence and respect
held for Abdul Muttalib across the entire Arabian Peninsula.
Abdul Muttalib was the grandfather of both the Greatest of
Allah's Apostles,
abu-Qasim Nabi Muhammad al-Mustafa ('s) through his
son Abdullah, and the first of the Twelve Holy Imams
abu-Hasan
Amirul Momineen Ali al-Murtaza ('a) through his son Abu Taleb.
Signs of Prophet Muhammad's Birth
The year that marked the birth of Prophet Muhammad
('s) was Amul
Feel, the Year of the Elephant, in which Allah (swt) send tiny birds
with small bits of clay to protect His House the Holy Ka'ba from the
evil Christian army who had come to destroy it. (see Surah 105 in
the Holy Qur'an).
On the 17th Rabiul Awwal, Amul Feel (587 AD), the Divine Light
of Prophet Muhammad (s) was born. During this year there were five
(5) main signs to announce the arrival of Allah's final Messenger.
