Overwhelming
Response for Islamic Pre-Marriage Course
- A Course for the youth held in Bangalore in India
Report
by Fasi Abbas Khaiser on behalf of Reliance Public School, Bangalore.
Moulana Zaki
Baqri,
presenting to the attendees.
The
youth of Bangalore gathered in profusion on the announcement
of "Pre marriage Islamic crash course", by
Syed Moulana Zaki Baqri Saheb organised by Reliance Public
School.
It
was an excellent opportunity to the youth here to know all
about the lasting relationship called “marriage”.
Although the academic education in Schools and Colleges teach
general moral conducts besides science, technology,
mathematics etc., they seldom teach of such a topic which is a
necessity for every youth getting married. Neither do most of
our parents take the initiative in educating their children
about this relationship.
It
was a two-day program conducted in July, consisting of a
series of sessions each day. After each session, the attendees
were given a chance to ask questions relating to the topic
covered in the session. Questions poured from the youth as
though they wanted to quench their thirst for knowledge, which
was untold to them so far.

An

& answer round.
Moulana
started his sessions on topics emphasizing the necessity of "thinking"
as it being an essential thing, would help out in building up
a strong relationship.
Explaining
about the importance of marriage, he stated one of the hadith
of Prophet Mohammed ('s):
"By
getting married a person protects half of his religion, the
other half is protected by his Taqwa".
He
covered topics such as Criteria of selecting Spouse, The
method of marriage in Islam, Love during the youth, rituals of
a bride, Kinds of Responsibility, Dowry and more.
"Knowledge
is dead if it is not practiced. We should never consider this
as something only theoretical, but rather should put this in
practice. By our practice, we should show to the world that we
do spread Islam with a peaceful meaning of knowledge, not with
a hateful meaning of it" advised Moulana to all.
An
interesting quiz based on the sessions ended the course. At
the closing ceremony, few of the attendees walked up to the
dais, to express their views about the program.
"This
is a good experience I had. I think I've taken a lot with me
out of these classes, for my future" expressed one of
the youths.
The
feedback forms based on the classes, collected from the
attendees, conveyed that a need for such programs is very very
important and should be conducted at least once every month.
Feedback of attendees showing a strong agreement about the
usefulness of the course.
An overwhelming response from the young attendees (With above 92% of
them rating the usefulness of the program as Good, Very good
& Excellent) shows that this kind of a program was a MUST
in their life. Is it that, only the youth here have a need for
an educational program based on Marriage? How about our young
brothers & sisters around the globe who are still not
aware of all the Do’s and Don’ts in Islam regarding
Marriage? Will they get educated too?
Somebody
should take an initiative to organise such a program in your
place.
(May
the blessings & support of our 14 infallibles be with
them, who would come forward for such a good cause).
