Allama Qazweeni, in his Riyaz-ul-Quds, gives the total number of prisoners after the Battle of Ashurra as 64. There is at least one report (there may be many more which I have not seen) from Imam Zayn al-Abideen in which the Imam says:

"We were twelve members of the Ahlul-Bayt who were tied by our necks in one rope when we were presented to Yazeed in Damascus." That report tells us that the remainder of the 64 prisoners had either been freed before reaching Damascus, or some of them actually may have perished on the way from Karbala to Damascus".
