It's not a real republic, but is a dreamland of 6 million people of Patani based
on a novel written by Lukman Iskandar. The novel was selected as Top Ten of
Malaysia National Novel Award 1994. It is a story of an unfortunate jetfighter
pilot who plundered his sophisticated aircraft in the dense jungle of Patani. He
parachuted safely to the ground, but discovered that he was in the dense jungle
controlled partially by the communists, the Muslim guerrillas, Thai and
Malaysian authorities.
He was rescued by the Muslim guerrillas of Patani who were fighting to liberate
their homeland from Thai colonial rule. In the jungle he met a beautiful US lady
who had been abducted by the Muslim guerrillas in protest to US's bombardment on
the Islamic Republic of Iran. They fell in love.

The novel was
written while Lukman was detained under draconian Internal Security Act (ISA),
Malaysia's infamous primitive law, condemned by the whole world and violated UN
Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
